FAQ

Wood or Gas - is there a difference?

The most important thing when making awesome pizza is reaching super high temperatures which all Ooni ovens can do - making a jaw dropping pizza in just 60 seconds!

Cooking with wood will give a subtle, wood-fired flavour. There is something special about wood-fired food - the smells and sounds can really add to the overall cooking experience.

Wood and charcoal (Ooni Karu only) will also provide a subtle, wood-fired flavour. This fuel source will allow for a low, slow cook - perfect for cooking beef and turkey.

Gas can also be used for a low, slow cook. Gas is a convenient fuel source when cooking recipes which require a lower, constant temperature. The temperature of your Ooni can readily be controlled using the knob on the gas burner and will not require maintenance throughout the cook. Using gas can accommodate any cook ranging from super high temperatures (500˚C) to low temperatures (250˚C).

Fuel choice is completely up to you and what you want from your Ooni - all Ooni ovens are awesome in their own way!

Safety is always key, and the onus is on you to ensure that you use all our ovens and stoves in a well-ventilated environment and never in an enclosed space.

FAQ

Where can you get wood or pellets?

We do not stock wood pellets; however, the same pellets used as fuel are also used as bedding for certain pets, and can be found in most pet stores.

Preferably choose a 100% hardwood pellet that is optimised for a neutral flavour and high temperatures. Also look for a low moisture content.

You are welcome to use any pellets as long as they are 100% hardwood and food safe.

FAQ

What kind of wood pellets can you use?

Pellets are available from most pet stores in Singapore at very reasonable prices. Yes, pet stores sell wood pellets for bedding used by some animals and it is just about the same thing. An example are the Eagle Valley Premium Wood Pellets found in many stores in Singapore.

Pellets example

Pellets you use should be hardwood and food safe. Preferably look for pellets that are 100% hardwood and optimised for neutral flavour and high temperatures. They should also have a low moisture content and be sized for use in Ooni 3 (< 1.25"). Any pellets that match this criteria will be suited for use with Ooni Fyra.

FAQ

Can you use normal firelighters?

You can use any type of non-synthetic firestarters for Ooni ovens. You can also use a blowtorch to light your Ooni. All firelighters should be free from kerosene or other additives that soak into the floor of the oven and, in turn, taint the taste of your food.

FAQ

What kind of gas tank do you need?

The type of gas tank you use will depend on your region and regulator.

In Singapore, you can easily purchase a gas bottle and regulator from any of the licenced LPG gas suppliers after a simple search online.

Gas Tank example Regulator example

If you already own a gas bottle you can purchase a new regulator and hose kit from your gas supplier.

Please note that the Ooni range of gas pizza ovens and burners are not suitable for installation to CityGas.

For the information of customers who wish to purchase an oven in Singapore and bring it overseas later, the Ooni gas ovens might not be compatible with other gas regulators elsewhere around the world. Please reference the information provided by Ooni on their main website.

FAQ

What is a regulator and which one do you need?

Regulators can be a wee bit confusing but it's easy when you now how! This article will help you to work out which one you need.

A regulator does exactly what it says on the tin. It regulates gas flow from your gas tank in to your gas-fired product. If there was no regulator, gas would flow from the propane tank super quickly and you'd have to buy lots of tanks to get your oven fired up.

There are two questions you need to answer before you choose the right model and regulator for you:

- what mBar pressure is common in my area?

- what fitting is on the top of gas bottles in my area?

Regulators are classified into different groups depending on the millibar (mBar) of pressure which they will release when in use. We do not provide gas regulators for our Ooni gas products because the sale of such products are regulated according to the guidelines of SPRING Singapore. Instead, you will easily be able to buy the approved gas regulator and hose from any licensed LPG gas vendor locally

As well as regulating to different mBar pressures, regulators can also be a different shape and size. In other words, not all 30mBar regulators are the same and neither are 28mBar, 27mBar or 50mBar.

Different regions and countries use different gas bottles with different connections. The ovens that we stock are specific for the regulators supplied by LPG gas vendors in Singapore. Ovens bought outside of Singapore or from sellers who do not obtain their supplies from the Official Ooni Distributor for Singapore may not work properly or worse, not work at all

Please note that our gas products themselves are also region specific and so changing the regulator will not make a product function in a region which it has not been designed for use in. For example, putting a US regulator on a UK Ooni Koda model will not make this model suitable for use in the US.

Listed below are the regulators which are commonly used worldwide and the countries which they are compatible for use in. If your country is seen for more than one of these millibars, please check in with your local hardware or appliance store in order to determine which gas tanks are available to you in your area.

The range of 30mb is vast and so we though it would be best to allow you to chose the regulator which is suitable for use with gas tanks available to you.

You may know a regulator as a kaasusäädin (FI), gasregelaar (NL) or regulátor plynu (SK). If you have ordered one of our awesome 30mb gas products, you will need to source a 30mb regulator to connect these gas products to your gas tank and get cooking!

37mb - BE, CH, CY, CZ, ES, FR, GB, GR, IE, IT, LT, LU, LV, PT, SK, SI, PL, MLT

To you a regulator might be known as a dujų reguliatorius (LT), regolatur tal-gass (MLT) or a gāzes regulators (LV).
